ABOUT THE SHED AT PAPA'S CREEK
Celebrating Life
The Shed at Papa's creek, started out as just "Papa's Creek". My husband, Kenneth, made a quiet place on the stone bottomed creek for me and the grand-babies to come and play in the water. When he passed away in 2017 the idea of honoring this special place by making it a family venue for celebrating life was birthed in my heart. As "the Shed" evolved, it became more than just a place for family, but a place for all families to come and celebrate life to the fullest. In this way, everyone gets to enjoy the special place that is Papa's Creek, and not just know what it means to me, but bring new joy and meaning to them as well.

A legacy, not just a building.
The Shed isn't just another event center. I grew up farming this land, my father working as a share cropper, and labor for hire. This place has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. Before we farmed this land it can be traced all the way back to a huge 1200+ acre parcel of land granted by the King of England. It once stretched from the area known as Silo Center in downtown Lavonia all the way across the northern part of what is now the city. The farm was connected by mule sheds spread across the huge area, and farmed by share croppers. The agricultural history of this farm is part of the innate beauty of the Shed. Below the creek overlook you can even see the remains of the old wagon road that once was the only way of travel through this area.
A place for family!
Papa's Creek has always been about family. It's not just a place to get together, but something about getting together in this place is magical for bringing together real family, be it through genealogy or through life together this place is special for bringing together those that mean the most to us. It's a place of beauty and history that reminds us of all that was once good in the world and all that still can be.
